If you are talking about being realistic in accordance to certain Medieval doctrine, then no, one would not lose hope, because one already knows the outcome, representation, acceptance or tendency of observation based on historical accounts. However, in more modern usage, being realistic means taking a practical view toward human problems and immediate difficulties. In the more modern view, yes, you can lose hope based on the sheer enormity of the problem; however, you can seek serenity for things you can't change, courage for things you can change and wisdom to know the difference.

what's the connection ?
If the person is sick and is given a realistic diagnosis of the situation would that take away hope? No the human nature looks for answers - so hope can take many turns and answers can be understood it different ways - sometimes being realistic can challenge you to look outside the box and gain a deeper hope/reason

A reasonable weight loss is 1 to 2 pounds per week. Losing more than that over a prolonged period is not healthy. Are you eating a well balanced diet that provides you with all the nutrients you need each day? Are you watching the size of portions that you eat? Even healthy food eaten in excess will not help you lose the pounds!
