The Intel has higher Ghz but does it mean that it is faster?

Yes and no. Yes it is faster in the sense of the number of processes that can run through it per second, but that isn't everything. The AMD is a 64 bit processor which can be faster due to the ability to process 2 times the amount of data in one operation. Also the dual-core of the AMD allows it to process two seperate threads at the same time making it faster. The disadvantage is that 64-bit processors need special versions of applications and operating systems made for 64-bit processors. The speed also depends on the operations you are doing, but generally speaking a dual-core should be faster than single-core and 64-bit processors are faster than 32-bit ones.

Well there are some issues with a Celeron processor especially when you're planning to use it for games. I've had experiences playing games with 3 celeron pc's and there are times when the games crash and reboot. Just go ahead with the AMD at least it's a 64-bit processor so you'll be ready for 64-bit apps that will come out and it's good for gaming. The only good Intel chips are the Core Duo and Core 2 Duo, now these guys will step on AMD chips all the way.

I would go with the AMD X2 6 days a week and twice on Sunday, mainly because of the cache differences. The AMD X2 is supposed to go head-to-head against Intels Core 2 Duo, not the Celeron D. The Celeron D is better compared to the AMD Sempron processors because these are the budget processors that they come out with that have much less cache. The Core 2 Duo kicks AMD X2's tail, but the AMD X2 does beat out the Celeron D.

It depends. The Celeron is a little faster at running a single command, but the Dual core is faster at running two commands at once. Since most programs were writtin before dual programing, they generally will run faster on the Celeron, but if you have two spread sheets or the lastest games, the Athlon would be faster.

in my opinion, higher ghz doesnt mean too much. Duo-Core is better because it has 2 cores instead of 1 i think.
