I have directed and been a cameraman on almost 500 episodes of various TV shows/formats, including children, music game-show;s and music videos. I have also directed documentaries for Shell Oil, SIUT Dewan Motors and many others. I would like to study filmaking in the USA and hone my skills further and at the same time be able to work there for a while after I pass out as it will give me the oppertunity to experience the american film inustry firsthand. Please advise

Definitely. As long as you are willing to work for your money, you can pay for school and daily expenses and fun and more, especially if you look for a school that's generous with financial aid.

Here is information straight from the Immigration website about becoming a student.

http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=4e4496981298d010VgnVCM10000048f3d6a1RCRD&vgnextchannel=48819c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD

Scrolling through you will see that it says that you are not allowed to work while in school but may apply for practical training after you have completed your studies.

If you apply and get accepted to a US college, then you can apply for a student Visa. You can work on-campus with a student Visa or get paid for "contract" jobs such as a short film or commercial, but you won't be able to work in an office job.
