I like to use expensive kinds, but it's becoming too hard to afford it all. What is a good inexpensive quality brand or what are some fun name brands?

M.A.C.
iloveit.
MY opinion is dont use make up from the drugstores.
they ruin your face.
m.a.c's price range is NOT as expensive as christian dior;lancome; shesiedo; and so on.
and is a LITTLE MORE than the ones at the drugstores.
most celebertys use M.A.C.

There's not really one brand that is best. Most pro artists have a mix of brands in their kit, as some items are better for one brand than the next. (This is a great link as for brands http://madenyc.com/simplythebest.htm)...

Here are some of my favorite brands:

Face Atelier, Make Up For Ever, NARS, Vincent Longo, Smashbox, Fresh, Too Faced, Ben Nye, Kryolan, Benefit, and Urban Decay.

Make Up For Ever has some fantastic foundations that will last no matter what you are doing. Remember to use a foundation primer (such as the foundation primer offered by Smashbox). Make Up For Ever also has some fantastic eyeshadows that are highly pigmented and are larger sized than some of the other brands (MAC, Lorac, Smashbox.) They have a great color range as well.

Speaking of Primers, you must get Urban Decay's Eyeshadow Primer Potion. This stuff rocks and should be used under any eyeshadow. It helps prevent creasing, as well as helps make the shadow last longer and stay vibrant.

Ben Nye and Kryolan are pro lines used for theatrical and film productions. The eyeshadow colors are very pigmented and they both have a great range. They are also fairly well priced too :)

Face Atelier is a newer pro line, but their products are fabulous. The foundation is silicon based and goes on like a dream. One great thing they offer is you can purchase sample sizes of their prodcuts so you can try them out before you get the full sized product.

NARS carries the BEST blushes and glosses. A company that names their colors "Orgasm" and "Deep Throat" definitely get my vote ;)

Smashbox is what I use for myself. The quality is great and I love their eyeshadows. They're comparably priced to the other top name brands.

If you want to stay with drig store brands I like Maybeline, L'oreal, and Revlon.

I'm a freelance makeup artist, so if you want a little more in depth feedback about which products you should look into, email me at liliummua @ gmail.com. Let me know what you are looking for specfically and I'll suggest some different options for you. And personally, I'd stay away from MAC. There's a boycott going on. (www.macboycott.com)

PS If you purchase from Sephora, you can take anything back that doesn't work. No questions asked.

I have a mix of stuff - MAC, Bobbi Brown, Benefit, Smashbox and Stila. I know what you mean about the expense - I look on Ebay for a lot of it.

I think Benefit is probably the most fun, but you're definitely paying extra for cute packaging. But they do have some amazing correctors and concealors that I haven't found anywhere else.

If I were going to choose a drugstore brand, I'd go with Physician's Formula.

I used to despise cover girl.....but, recently, I tried a new powder of their's called "Outlast". My usual routine is to start with a light coating of Mybelline "Pure Makeup" (liquid) in the color creamy natural...I let that dry for a minute and then add a light dusting of the covergirl "Outlast" powder in the color "translucent beige". Works wonders....half the time people don't even know I am wearing any foundation. Try it! Just don't overdo it, and make sure to exfoliate your face at least once a week with a gentle exfoliant, or your face will look like you have caked on your makeup!

If you buy makeup you want to look your best and feel your best. I buy bareminerals it is very healthy for your skin, and it does not leave your face feeling oily after you wash it off and it gives you a soft pure look like you have a very smooth complexion. If you don't want to use that than use cover girl it is inexpensive and you can get all colors you need.

From personal experience I really like Clinique (they have great skincare products and lipglosses/lipsticks), Maybelline-Covergirl-Loreal-Revlon (great mascaras, pencil/liquid eyeliners and lipglosses/lipsticks). Another favourite would be Almay - all of their products are hypoallergenic...great for acne prone skin :) I personally don't use any type of foundation or powder - only bronzer....so for a great bronzer/blush I'd recommend either from Loreal or Physcian's Formula.
