Guess it's because the record companies are looking at earning more MONEY, rather than promoting good music. The music industry's getting saturated with music that just sounds quite like crap more often than not. There're just so many singers, bands, that keep "coming up", and before you know it, they might already have faded away.

One more thing, i think the increase in those kind of reality shows might be one reason too. Look at Singapore - there's like Project Superstar, Superband, Singapore Idol, and who knows what else to follow. Are we that lacking in talent that there're so many of such shows in various countries worldwide? It's just frustrating even hearing about these shows, and the outcomes (who wins, and etc).

Maybe the record companies haven't realised that those who are truly devoted to making good music, aren't those that go around with pretty-faces and whatnot.

(Agree that music in the past sounds nicer.)

Well, I can't say that I know for sure, but it seems to me that the older music had musicians that put their hearts into their music and it really showed. It also seems like today's musicians are trying to get paid first, so they'll put out "get paid now" crap rather than taking their time and actually putting together a good album.

I still like some new music, but the majority of stuff in my car (6-disc mp3 player) is 80s and 90s music.

It hardly lasts long because there are so many new songs coming out and hearing the same stuff over and over makes people bored. There are limits to how many songs a radio station can play in a day too. Sheesh. Just because a song doesnt stay on the radio doesnt make it bad. Same thing in the opposite too. Just because a song is played a lot, doesnt make it good.

Record companies, now a days, are just lookin' for the CRAP that'll sell records and make them big money... not really caring about the content or how much Bull.**** they cram into the CD case...

I'm glad people are noticing though. I'm 25 and really into the 60's & early 70's flava... Good Music definitely needs to make a comback.

The Rap & the Hippity Hop can suck it...

Later!!

well surprisingly it is pretty simple... people are getting dumb... they want to listen to their simple pop, and rock music( and any modern music that is played on the radio goes into the categories of pop and rock) these bands that are out now are used to market things, green day sold out and went for the younger crowd with there catchier lyrics. most bands revolve around their singers, and without a singer you can't get on the radio... in reality the music you here on the radio sucks it's the singer that your listening to... but there are still some good bands... you may have heard of these bands i will list, and i imagine you may have heard them and discarded them as weird bands or something just oo heavy for your tastes, but Opeth, Dream Theater, and Children of bodom are extremely great bands... if you get a chance listen to them, and keep a open mind don't just listen to one or two songs and disregard them listen to ten or fifteen, and like i said keep an open mind and listen to the music not the just the singer, the singer is only another instrument... always remember the singer is only another instrument not the whole band

Well, there are always moral-less values in which we look down apon, and this situation has dominated our modern - day society. In that case, we should just stick to the past until this suicidle (however you spell that) hip-hop crap they call music will eventually turn down on society, and guess who'll be laughing? You! And smart logical people like you! But if you like music, why not go for some Tiesto or something? He's really good. But you don't have to take my advice, because I'm only twelve years old.

Unfortunately, to get to the good music nowadays, you have to search like crazy through the underground. But you're right about the timeless music, it's not frequent anymore.

Have you also noticed the modern art galleries where they go for effect rather than talent.
