Web traffic which comes from unpaid listing at search engines or directories is commonly known as "organic" traffic. Organic traffic can be generated or increased by including the web site in directories (such as Yahoo! and DMOZ), search engines (such as Google and Inktomi), guides (such as yellow pages and restaurant guides) and award sites.

Hope that helps.
Have a nice day.

Organic search engine traffic comes from the non-paid search engine results. For example, let's suppose you go to Google and type "internet marketing tips" in the search box. You will get two kinds of results: organic results and sponsored results. The sponsored results appear in the right column of the page, clearly marked "sponsored links". Sometimes, they also appear in the first two or three positions in the main section of the page (also clearly marked "sponsored links"). This means that companies have paid the search engine to be positioned there. The organic search results are those who appear in the main area of the page, below and to the left of the "sponsored links". These results are "organic", meaning that they are generated automatically by the search engine based on several measures of relevance, and they are not-paid. For this reason, most people trust the "organic" results more than the "sponsored links". You can read this article if you want to learn more:

Organic traffic is achieved by search engine referrals. Webmasters use search engine optimization techniques to achieve high organic rankings. Each search engine (Google, Yahoo, MSN etc) will crawl a website collecting information, depending how the site is setup the search engine will rank the site accordingly. The higher the ranking the higher the site ranks in the search engine thus inducing organic traffic.

Organic traffic is FREE traffic sent to your website from search engines such as Google and Bing; usually because they like the content on your site. Not sure if that is much clearer, but I hope you noticed the word I highlighted....
