While they debuted in the '80s, they were also popular in the '90s.

This is why I have always said that anyone who classifies music according to decades is a complete and total moron. Did all styles change as soon as 1989 ended and 1990 rang in? No. Careers did not begin or end overnight. REM is a band that had tremendous success in both decades, first as a college-rock indie darling, then as a mainstream phenomenon. If you forsake one at the expense of the other, then you do not understand the band, or music in general.

AC/DC has had massive international success in four consecutive decades. Are they a 70s band, an 80s band, a 90s band or a 00s band? This is a pointless, unintelligent way to classify music and groups thereto.

Neither and Both- depends on which tunes you prefer and when you first came to know them. They were more popular in the 90's but were together in the 80's.

theyve been around for both, but im 20 and i consider them more of a 90's group because i grew up in the 90's and they had huge hits like "its the end of the world" or "losing my religion"

but they were around in the 80's for sure.

I think they had more hits in the 80's, so most would think they are an 80's group.
