if you're talking about for your home use, go get a router with that supports wireless, AKA - a wireless access point. Linksys or Netgear are good brands. Just look for wireless broadband router, 802.11G or 802.11G/N.

If you already have broadband internet, you should get a wireless router and hook it to your cable/DSL modem. That way, you can wander all around the house and get online. Before you do that, just go down to your local coffee shop and try out their free wireless internet. If your laptop card is working and turned on, you should get a balloon down in the system tray that says something like 'Found Wireless Connection'. You then click on it and choose 'connect'. If the connection is protected, you may need to enter a password to access their connection - if this were the case, the folks at the counter would give you the password when you pick up your coffee! Good luck.
