1. The World's Oldest Person Who Ever Lived

The greatest fully-authenticated age to which any human has ever lived is 122 years 164 days by Madam Jeanne Louise Calment of FRANCE. She was born on February 21, 1875 and died on August 4, 1997. Centenarians surviving beyond age 114 is an extremely rare occurrence. It is thought that only one 115-year life can be expected per 2.1 billion persons.

Mythologically,
While some might suggest Methuselah, that's not quite right,
Cartaphilus, Pontius Pilate's gate keeper could have been hanging around for the last 2000 years or so. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Longinus_%28Christian_mythology%29)

Historically, However, you have to lookup an old French woman, Jeanne Calment, who's apparently met Vincent Van Gogh.

Currently the oldest person alive (as of Dec 28, is Emiliano Mercado del Toro of Puerto Rico, born August 21, 1891).

Methusala in the old testament lived to be 969 years old. It is theorized by religious leaders who believe the Bible as God's truth for mankind, that bible ages are quite accurate and that due to the sin of mankind, the lifespan of our physical bodies changed. This is according to God that the days of man would be shortened. I beleive this happened at the time of the flood.

If you are speaking of people living today there are a group of peoples somewhere in the northwest asian continent. I remember a National Geographic article as a kid about this group of peoples. They live to be well over 100 years old... something like 130- 140??? The article stated their diet consisted of a lot of apricots and possibly the apricot pit (tho I have heard the apricot pit is poisonous for humans).

Methuselah lived to be 969. Adam was still alive when he was born and Methuselah was still alive when Noah was born. After the flood people no longer lived as long and God says the number of our days will be 120 years, which is pretty much the maximum life span even with all our modern medical marvels.
