I think what's going on is that you aren't able to read the entire question as it was originally stated. Sometimes when I post a question on yahoo answers, it cuts off part of the question and adds "..." at the end.

It appears to me that the person is referring to a game show question in which the contestant is asked to add and multiply a bunch of numbers together, without being told the order of precedence.

The quesion is a ply on words. Depending how you read it, you can come up with different answers.

The morale: make your questions clear; otherwise, it "drives people crazy"...

it's a 'trick' question .. obscure statements are sometimes an indication of misunderstanding at some level .... and often a waste of effort to comprehend.

I would call this one of those instances.
