You are correct. The Republican Party sold out. The Conservatives have been purged. Now, its just Neo-Cons and "moderates".
In actuality, today's moderates would have been flaming Liberals a few years ago. Everything has shifted so far to the Left.
The Republicans haven't had a true Conservative since before Eisenhower. Yeah, I liked the Gipper, but he surrounded himself with globalists. He never did get rid of the Depts of Education and Energy.
We need another Pat Buchanan.

I think moderates like John McCain are the reason the Republican Party are strong at all.
Imagine this. An radical liberal arguing with an neo-con. I can't picture much progress in that.
Moderates like McCain facilitate compromise and balance. I think America needs more of that, if we're gonna get through the big problems facing us, like Iraq, war on terror, immigration, etc....

There are so many problems with the Republican party right now, I can't name them all here. But these are a few of my thoughts --
Republicans base themselves on being conservative and family oriented ... and come off as being incredibly judgemental of those who don't fit into their idea of the American dream. However, when so many party members in the eye of the public are straying from their political stance in their private lives, how are we to assume that they are being honest in the issues they support or condemn? Because of this, they are reduced to taking ridiculous stabs are the opposing party, such as that Democrats aren't interested in protecting the country from terrorists. Republicans are more interested in bringing attention to the divisions of this country instead of focusing on the important problems that we are dealing with (some of which are caused by the Republican leadership in this country). When media attention starts to focus on the president's approval rates dropping or the ever growing number of military dying in Iraq, all of a sudden someone brings up gay marriage or abortion again.
Extremists on both ends are a problem. The kind of politicians that we need are the ones that will start thinking about what is best for this country, not just the advancement of their own parties. In a time when we are greatly divided, leaders that can compromise and relate to others with different viewpoints are a great asset in my opinion.

the problem with the repub party is neocons are controlling it,not conservatives. the problem with McCain is he let bush and rove insult him and his family for the "good" of the party. neocons have hurt america by changing a political party. it is designed to be a government of the people, for the people. not a government of the corporations.
