I was embarrassed to tell my mom at first that I've gotten my period already, I was only 11 then after all. I quickly told her that I've got my period and that's it! There's no need to worry about it. She just asked me if I felt any discomfort with my period because she had Midol that I can always ask from her.

Honestly.

Believe it or not, your mother once had a first period as well. She remembers what it was like, and she's the best person to help you. Just tell her.

Many women feel that for a daughter to reach menarche (first period) is a cause for celebration. Go with it.

A period is a natural and normal part of growing up. There is nothing shameful about it. She should be open to it. She hasn't told you about this already? If not, I'm sorry. Seek out an adult woman you trust.

Ma I have tell you some neat news - I've just passed the test into the womens club - can you help me with the finer details. then give her a hug and say don't worry ma i'm still your little girl and i hope your excited for me.

funny enough some moms are embarrassed just as much as the girl - and it will make her feel good that you are talking with her - (it means to her that you still strust her for help)

Well, ask her when SHE started her period.

"Hey mom, when did you start your period?"
*Your mom's answer*
"Oh. Okay, so I started mine at the right time?"
*Your mother now knows you started your period!*

As a mother i need to ask you why you would feel so uncomfortable talking to her about it? just say hey mom...I started my period! i need tampons ( or pads) and if you need help to learn how to use them, just ask her. It shouldn't be an issue. and if you need advice we will be here for you.
