if you've been using lots of hand sanitizer, then stop. its bad for your nails.

you need to take geletin caps every day...and then use a
"nail-buffer"----go to your local drug store or a nail salon, and buy a square filing BLOCK...and have the nail-stylist show you how to use it---even if there's a language barrier between you...she/he can SHOW you how. Always do it to clean nails, and then after you've buffed them up, wash your hands well, then put a DROP of olive oil at the nailbed (base of your nail) and massage it into the full length of the nail. Don't polish your nails until this oil has completely disappeared (been soaked into the nail & skin).

Are they bumps and ridges or really cracks that go down to your skin?

cracks are more unsettling than ridges because they may end of collecting bacteria and hurting. See a doctor.

If they are just ridges, if you have always had them might be just the way your nails are built. If they are recent it's probably a dietary thing. See if you are getting enough nutrition.

best of luck

That's is deffinatley not normal. Maybe your not get enough calcium or vitamin C. There's pills and all sorts of stuff that help your nails grow stronger. Talk to someone who specializes in that area. It's fixable you just have do what's neccessary, either way talk to a proffessional
