How old would you have to be to write articles for the newspaper or magazines?

I'm 12 but I'm really interested in journalism...I just wanted to know how old I would have to be to start writing small articles.

If you are interested in that, start submitting them to your local newspapers or magazines! I love to read articles by people of all ages. It doesn't matter what age you are, it's what you write about. You only live once and the more experience you get out of life, the better. Good luck and start submitting!:)

You really just have to be old enough to write a comprehensible article. Of course there are child labor laws and other things that you would have to also know all about to tell the editor when you go to him/her with your proposal. And never forget those letters to the editor. I wouldn't use it to try to scaore a job, but you could tell the reasons why a twelve year old should be able to write for the paper. it's Nice that you're interested in Journalism at this young age..

my advice is that you should train your self by writing for Free online Ezines, and when you have enough experience and a portfolio that you can show any magazine or newspaper.. you will have your chance..

I don't know. You would have to check with your local newspaper provider and tell them your situation, and what you are interested in. But they mainly need articles that keep the reader attached to their newspaper

there really is no age limit unless you are getting payed (but thats a differant story) if you are able to write professional level articles there is no reason you couldent get published. just remember they will get judged on that level, and your age will not be taken into account when any of your work is consittered.
