You should see more on-track action on Fridays in 2007. The two practice sessions have been extended from 60 to 90 minutes and the `two-race' engine rule doesn't apply to those sessions. However, there will be no `third car' on Friday's, but all teams may put a test driver in one of the cars.
With a single tire supplier, there will be fewer test sessions in 2007, so it's hoped the Fridays at Grands Prix will become de facto test sessions.

I think that there will probably be some action. Two 90-minute sessions... but I don't think that some drivers will risk going out, because the teams are now only allowed to take 2 chassis per race weekend. And if you smash one to pieces... That should also be an excuse for not putting a third driver in the car.

The fact that the two-race (three-race from 2008) engine rule won't apply on Fridays might force a few PR stunts with teams using, in essence, qualifying-spec engines, like 5-10 years ago, that run at maximum capacity for some laps and then, when you least expect it, go BOOM. So some of the rule changes combine altogether to make for quite unpredictable Fridays... but I think that the first practice session will remain as boring as it was this year, with the stars staying in the garage.

There will be more on track action on Fridays next year or they would not have increased the time for each session.
