I LOVE the answer that blames "religions" for war! Interestingly, I will use not religion per say but the Bible to explain the answer. In Genesis we read that when Adam fell it cursed us all. We are ALL born in bondage to sin. Given that, it doesn't take religious differences to spark war! LOL!!! Just listen to the mean and nasty comments made on a daily basis at work. Look at the acts of Timothy McVeigh, Jeffrey Dahmer, Ted Bundy, David Berkowitz, the killers at Columbine, et al. Where these hateful acts sparked by religious differences? What about the ongoing campaigns of "ethnic cleansing" going on around the world? Is that sparked by religiousity?

The Bible tells us that we ALL are in bondage to sin, rebellious to God's will. That is why we need Jesus! My guess is that only a small, small, SMALL percentage of all human deaths come from religious spats, wars, etc. Many are incidental and accidental and a very few are religious in nature. But war is to countries what bickering and arguing are to people. Countries have personalities just as people do. What are you going to do with a bully? You either stand up to his bullying OR you roll over to it! As long as there is human evil there will be that need to bully, to dominate, to control others. Whether it is moral indignation or just plain self-righteous ego that prompts you, you must stand up to this bullying or become oppressed by it.

You will never have peace in the world as long as you have religion. It is the great separator of people. Just look at the never ending violence.
