I was using my mom's t-mobile phone and I called two of my friends and we were talking for a looooooooong time. Will they charge me extra?..it was after 9pm so the mins were free. thanks

As you said, the minutes were free after 9pm if you have free nights. Normally, you're charged airtime for each call in a multi-party call with all the carriers. So if you have two parties connected through your phone, you'll be charged two minutes for every real-world minute.

I think on most plans 3-way calling is a free service, it just uses twice as many minutes. For example, if you're on a call with 2 parties for 10 minutes, you'll be charged 20 minutes against your plan. But, since you called during nights & weekend minutes, you're probably in the clear!
