eBay and searching the internet is the easiest. If the movie is rare, set up a search engine on eBay in case the movie comes up for sale. In all likelyhood you will find some place on the internet selling the movie. eBay and some other site allow you yo list items you are looking for.

Also, look up 2nd hand stores, used movie stores, movie stores, etc. in the phone book and call them. They may have the movie in stock.

A long shot is to hit the library and check various newspaper ads. While you are at the library, ask them if they have the movie or can get the movie from another library. if they can't get it from another library, they might be able to at leas check to see if other local libraries hve it in stock. If they can't help with other local libraries, call these other libraries and ask.

Your last hope would be to place an ad in the newspaper looking for the item. This may seem like a longshot, but I once found an old PC game this way fast - some one may not bother to list this item for sale, but they might have it sitting in their closet collecting dust.

If it was something that WAS in print, your best chances are Amazon or Ebay. But, if it was never commercially available try www.movie-classics.com. I've bought several movies from there .
