Sure it's ok to be embarrassed, but remember this story:
My ex-fiance had it in highschool; & was called all sorts of names, & by one guy in particular. Years later when we were together, this one guy just happened to be sitting next to my fiance in a bar...and recognized my fiance & said hi. My fiance noticed this guy's face was affected with acne much worse than his ever was...and all the names he called my fiance, suddenly "fell away"...and no longer mattered.
One thing my ex did to help his acne SCARS (because you will be left with scars later)...was he maintained a nice tan at all times (with a good SPF), and worked out to maintain good muscle-mass, so that he always looked buff and tan...and no one noticed his acne scars---least of all...ME! He was a BABE! in all ways! Was constantly mistaken for Joe Montana (the 49er Quarterback).
You need to see a good dermatologist (doctor) for proper diet and proper cleansing, and to learn about 'cross-contaminations'..etc., and then remember what I told you above too...and you'll be fine.
Blessings to you.

unfortunately, there is nothing to get rid of acne overnight. a dermatologist sounds like your best bet. in the meantime, be sure to wash your face only twice daily. overwashing can overdry out your skin, leading to an overproduction of oil in an effort to compensate for the loss. also, don't use exfoliants or scrubs when you have open sores as this will only further irritate and possibly infect the skin. be sure to use an oil free, fragrance free moisturizer twice daily as well.
a great line for problem skin is the Prescriptives skin care for oily skin--start with the cleanser and all you need moisturizer for oily skin. use twice a day. for the first week or so, your skin might get worse, but the hydroxy acids are only pulling out the stuff from clogged pores, which is a necessary process. then you will see a dramatic difference, but it does take time.
one last thing, one of the most important things you can do for your skin's health is drink at least 8 glasses of water a day.

I'd see a dermatologist. It's the best way to find out what will work for you as far as products and treatments.

But in the meantime, try using tea tree oil. The stuff is a natural anti-bacterial. It helps zap my zits everytime!

Proactive works well but it is really drying to your skin also dermalogica works really well. But i recomend going to the dermatologist and getting on some antibiotics that will do the best job over any type of cleansers or anything

The only tip I have will make things start to disappear in 36 hours.

everyday you should wash your face and moisturize.

everyother day you should wash, exfoliate, tone, and then moisturize. daily use of a toner and exfoliant will irritate your skin and make everything worse. clearasil makes a good overnight treatment.
