I saw him on SNL never watched Taxi. I thought the pantomime he did with the Mighty Mouse theme song was hilarious. He was so earnest, and patient as he waited for his part. Otherwise I think he was a rabid self promoter, boorish, and not very funny.

Genius is too lofty a term to bestow on any comedian. Comedy is one of the lesser art forms, to say these guys are genius is just stupid. Mozart and Da Vinci were geniuses.

i think he was insane. he just appeared to be insanely driven, didn't seem to enjoy himself doing what he supposedly loved

I never got what all the hype about him was! I mean, he was funny on Taxi as Latka - but his stand-up act was past boring - it was snoring! There are millions much funnier and clever than he was!
