I can only get the Yahoo home page to load. I can type something in the search area and get results, however when I pick on a result or (web page) the only thing that comes up is a completely white screen. It appears to be working, then rather quickly says done in the lower left hand corner but no page is loaded. What is the problem?

You may need to load the java and other upgrades like ActiveX to view more "modern" sites. Get the updates from MicroSoft for IE6.0 that should update all the windows components needed.

Sounds like your computer has lost its internet connection. IE6 will sometimes still show you cached copies of pages that it has sucessfully downloaded in the past and may display them when you try to view that site if no connection is available.
Here's one way to check this. Go to tools - Internet Options and in the General tab look for "temporary internet files". Click on delete files. This will clean out your cache. Now try and view Yahoo.
If it doesn't load then your computer is not connected to the Internet. Look for connection problems such as loose or disconnected cables, verify that your modem and router are working. (try unplugging them and plugging them back in).
If the yahoo page does load and you are still getting the same symptoms then you may have software corruption in Internet Explorer and you may have other unseen problems. If that is the case the best bet is to back up your important files to another disk and then do a re-installation of Windows. Explorer is such a core part of windows that it's best to re-install if you have problems that cause what you are seeing.
