Arsenal bought only Rosicky but lost 4-5 very good players. In case of L'pool and United they bought 4-5 good players and have lost just 1-2 players. Benitez or Mourinho both have added great players during the start of the season. Arsenal has few good quality players and if two to three more are added Arsenal will be a challenging team anywhere they go. Bassically the defence is weak. So why not buy a good defender

Wenger has been associated with Arsenal since last 10 to 12 yrs and he knows that what are the requirements of the team. He knows that by buying young players his team will be benefitted coz then he would have lots of potential Thierry Henry's, Gilberto Silva's, Freddie Ljunberg's and Jens Lehmann's. Arsenal has a team with mixed variety of experienced campaigners as well as young blooded talents.
And talking of there defence - their defence is a really good one as they supported Lehamnn all throughout the UCL 2005-06 and took Arsenal to their first ever UCL final.
Allt hese young defenders like Eboue, Toure, Senderos and Lauren are strong and very quick thus providing Arsenal with a lot of flexibility.
Not only in defence but even in goal-keeping he has lots of chocies like lehamnn, Manuel Almunia and Mart Poom.
His faith in Young talents has borne fruits as players like Cesc Fabregas and Robin Van Persie have proved to be great outcomes. Even Jose Antonio Reyes became a class-act and was loaned out to a classic team like Real Madrid.
Another young talent like Emmanuel Adebayor is proving to be a great future investment for Arsenal and his finishing ability is marvellous.
Another youngster in Theo Walcott has been rocking and with his speed and passing abilities, he is giving defenders a nightmare.
The new Rosicky was a great buy as he was Astoundingly good at the world cup for Czech Republic and he didnt cost a fortune too. Again an awesome decision by Wenger
Buying young players also helps Arsenal financially as they cost less and selling experienced campaigners like Pat Vierra, ROb Pires, Edu and REyes gives them a lot of money.
Thus, whenever the team is in a need to buy a superb player - be it attacker, defender or mid - they will have enough money in their pocket.
This shows that Wenger is a genius and trusts in young talent

Arsenal's defense last season was too strong atleast in the Champions League where they conceeded very little goals. And to add to it they have also added Gallas whose quality is too good. So Now their defence is...

Eboue
Kolo Toure
William Gallas
Senderos
they also used Flamini as Left Back last season.

They also have a good defensive mid.......Gilberto Silva

Arsenal's attack is also good..considering Julio Baptista
they have
Cesc Fabregas
Alexander Hleb
Tomas Rosicky
Freddie Lunjberg

and forwards are too good......considering the form in which Robin Van Persie is in
they also have
THIERRY HENRY
Theo Walcott
and
Aderbayor

How can this squad be weak???
and to it they have brought young players like fabregas, van persie, theo walcott, eboue and aderbayor
and have experienced players like Henry, Toure, Rosicky, Hleb and Gallas
I do not find any fault in this.....

well, the thing is that arsenal is building the team for the future, which means, they'd rather get young players with high expectations, just like fabregas... arsenal has very good players in the youngsters and in the reserves, just to mention some: bendtner (on loan at birmingham), lupoli, fran merida, stokes, and others.
and also has some young guys in the first squad: fabregas, walcott.
if they gain experience quickly (which i believe they are accomplishing) it will be a boost for the whole team.
About the defense, i dont think its weak, the blame should be for the injuries... but hopefully all the players will recover soon... we'll just have to wait.

he wanted to let his young squad mature and not let in too many players who may take all their chances in the startin line up.
arsene is a smart man who knows what he needs and i think he doesn't really lack defensive players.
even now that gallas & eboue & djourou are injured he still have hoyte, clichy, toure, senderous who are all very good defenders
and also i think arsenal is quite tight in their spending power
or they are just waiting for the right move
no point splashing out cash like chelsea who end up having a big squad of mixed talents & some left unhappy being benchwarmers
so overall i think it's a good move from arsenal

I agree, they need a good defender. Not sure if Arsenal can make big transfers that they are still in dept. Even if they could, why make one big transfer when they could bring in many players who are equally good or better at the same price.

Because their fund has already used to build their new stdium, Emirates Stadium so there is no much money to buy new players. But Wenger cover it well with the good play by his youth squad.

If he finishes outdoors the acceptable 4, definite. Arsenal's vendors do no longer care approximately trophies, yet they do care approximately making a living, and the Champions League provides them and the club (yet maximum critically them) diverse funds. If he can not provide them that funds, then he will go.

a lots of cost they spend for the new stadium...
wenger is the one who want to build up the kid's to be a star..like henry....but M.U and Cheski just bought a named player who's going retired. wenger try to created a player which is they started play in one team in their first professional or world class performance..... just Lock at henry......he is he when he is with Juventus..
but i agreed with u in defender part. but just look at the player... they are a youth player...but every game u can see the effort and off course its hard for a kids team play consistently as their senior. but u can see something next season.
