A "genius" is similar to a prodigy. They excel in the field in which they work. Warren Buffet is a "genius" for obvious reasons. Einstein was a physics genius. A current genius( other than buffet) is Brad Blazer. He is unknown to most, but he is at the top of his field. Stephen King and J.K. Rowling are "geniuses".
The greatest "genius" in history is Von Goethe. The most intelligent person to live on our planet was James Sidis. He was this because of genetics( his parents possessed superior intellects), his environment( he was introduced to higher level concepts at a very early age, and other small factors that led to his early development). The most intelligent person to date I have come in contact with( someone who was my equal in some subjects) was a professor from MIT( I will keep his name hidden to protect his and my identity). The thought that anyone with an IQ over 145 is a genius is preposterous. If that was true, there would be over 6 million recognized "geniuses" in our world. Seeing as we view only a select few as geniuses, this generalization is inaccurate.

Genius is a combination of INSIGHT, SITUATION, NECESSITY, and KNOWLEDGE. My son is a 7 year old genius. He take his toys apart and puts them together in a different way. He has the INSIGHT and can emagain the NECESSITY and preceve a SITUATION but Most of the time he lacks the KNOWLEDGE that will take him in the direction he needs to go.
Albert Einstein had the ability to see beyond the ordinary. Using math and the KNOWLEDGE of science in his day he had the INSIGHT that could calculate what was the truth in space and time. He saw the NECESSITY in the SITUATION of science of his day and the advance it would cause.
Thomas Edison could use the materials around him and create the future. Edison used his INSIGHT and took a NECESSITY to improve a SITUATION that lead into the advancement of KNOWLEDGE in electricity, lighting, sound, motion pictures and a multitude of other things.
True genius, is using the simple things around us to create something better and improve life. To take a product or device or situation and improve it by a degree or two or by a giant leap. All of us have that genius HOWEVER only a few of us really use it.

In my opinion, genius refers to one who is extra-ordinary in mental ability.

According to me, anyone who leads the life as 'survival of the fittest' in a honest way is a real genius in our world today.

In the world history 'Man' is generally considered to be as the greatest genius among all the creatures (coz man is the best creature in survival of the fittest).

Anyone who is/was pretty good in solving problems (of any kind) is the most intelligent.

My father is the most intelligent person I'm in contact with.

Leonardo da Vinci was probably the ultimate genius... with Stephen Hawking being our most modern equivalent...

I watched a lecture by Hawking... climbed on a door post to get closer to him... and then ran around back when he was being put in his van... got within six feet of him... was the most intense moment of my life...

He dumped the nurse he was with a few years later - kinda discouraged me....
