Pumps have the skinnier heel and tend to make people look taller. Platforms do not continue the long line of the leg and end up making you look shorter.

Platforms are chunkier, like the entire sole is one-piece; and they're taller overall. Pumps are flat in the front and have a visually separate heel.

A platform has a lift under the ball of your foot. A pump has no lift.

Sexy or clunky. Platforms have thicker soles and feel 'chunkier' than pumps which have a thin sole, generally .25 inches or less.
