It Took Me About 31/2 Yrs Before I Learned My First Sonata But If You Have Nothing To Do But Practice<---Not Meant 2 Offend, You Could Probably Get It Much Sooner...I Was Off && On Lessons && Didn't Practice Regularly So I Took Me Longer

I started when I was 8 and I picked it up fast. 2 classes and I was already playing chords, making the music flow, ect. You could play Classic Sonatas but it is not a must.

that depends on how fast you pick it up; and how much time you spend practicing.

I know someone that can play 3 or 4 differentt classical sonatas and he doesnt play piano, just practiced those ones and goes off muscle memory.

depends on:
1) how much natural talent you have
2) how much your willing to practice
3)how good your teacher is
4) how difficult or technically challenging the sonata is. some are relatively easy--some take a whole career to master.

it really depends to how fast a learner you are, it might take quite a few years until you will be able to play a good sonatina
