All my life I have wanted to go to New York City. While in service to my country, I travled many mile around the globe. It's been a very stressful year, losing loved ones and all. Emotionaly my heart is making a slow recovery. My conjestive heart failure, I can only guess. They want to leave in eary January. My doctors appointment is in late January. None of us has been the same, since 911. I can not smoke on the planes anymore, and I would not want to drink my fears away before boarding the plane. I love my family, I know they are trying to help me recover from a Thanksgiving Day of my nephew. I feel better at home, tho he died here, I am at peace. When my mother died, it took me 3 years to reenter the home left to me and my siblings. Would you go, if you were me?

sure, because you don't honor them by giving up on life, that which has been taken away from them.....Sounds like you are trying to battle a bit of depression by yourself, and lots of us go through it.....I know I don't know you, but I can feel your sorrow by your words. You say you have a doctor. Tell him/her that you are suffering from depression, you didn't invent it believe me, they have seen probably lots of people with one form or another of it.....NO shame to try to eleviate it, swear.....You may need some med's, that you DON'T have to take forever, just something to rewire your inner self a bit and level you off..To bring the real you back.....who is still in there....Stress, death, illness, the holidays, the news!....lots of contributing factors for depression to take hold, and it is sometimes hard to take care of on your own......Talk to your doctor, if your on disability, you should be able to go to the mental health clinic (I hate they call it that, sounds so medical-ish) and you can talk to someone, sometimes like even on this site, its just good to get some stuff off your chest, doesn't mean your looney!!!!! ok?.......peace be with you.....sincerely.....

Take the gift. Call your doctor and tell them the situation, ask for the appointment to be moved up. If they can't ask to be put on as the first one called if there is a cancellation. Perhaps there is another doctor you can see. Or go to a walk in clinic with copies of your records.

Do whatever you can to go. I wish you all the best. As someone with a heart condition I feel for you. And as someone who lost their mother this summer I also feel for you. But life is short and I think you should do everything you can do to this if it's important to you.

Go! Life is way too short for everyone, and if you let yourself be seduced into thinking that one trip is going to kill you then you are robbing yourself of that time. Life was ment for telling loved-ones you love them and giving them part of your time to show the truth of what you say. When it is my time I hope I have a smile on my face and not the look of anguish because there was something I needed to do but didn't.

I won't even address the fact that you shouldn't be smoking, period, either. :-)
