It kind of scares me that nobody does. Sports have become so central to American life that when people feel the sanctity of their favorite sport is threatened, the Government must step in and correct the problem. This is what leads to Congress holding hearings into MLB steroid abuse instead of trying to fix important foreign policy problems, like, say, Iraq.

It isn't a question of whether steroid use is right or wrong. It is a question of when we as a nation are going to decide that the government should not be our first recourse to fix any problem we encounter. Somehow the majority of people in this nation have come to believe that government intervention in anything and everything is fine and dandy.

Also, who really cares? They are just athletes - maybe the US would be better off if kids wanted to grow up and be great thinkers, scientists, and people, rather than famous athletes, models, movie stars, singers, and other entertainers. Round up all the politicans in the US, mix in all the pro athletes and celebrities of every type, trap them on an island, and what will we have really lost?

Yes, They have no business getting involved. Let the Athletes do what they want. I don't see the Government stopping crack heads and drug users from harming there bodies. And I happen to like the NFL, nobody talks about them being full of steroids. How do you think they have so much body contact and come back next week for more. A baseball game already lacks excitement, imagine no homeruns,no stolen bases, ect. Theres hardly any already! People that have never done steroids need to leave the subject alone, they go on hear say. These Athletes are not hurting any of the people that have a problem with it.
Can we as americans find something better to complain about, like what the government needs to be doing! Oh Yeah Mark Mcgwire was and is my favorite player.

Since when did sports become an issue in which the government needs to be involved? Doesn't the government have enough concerns on their plate without having to be worried about unfair competition on the playing field? Give me a break! If young men and women want to ruin their bodies...just so that they can be 'heroes' - let them! It is impossible for them to miss all the warnings against them, but still choose to do it. Same thing as eating disorders...if you are so vain that you NEED to look like the models in the magazines and on the runways...so be it. I'm sick of hearing about how this is all due to mental illness. Stop coddling self destructive people - and stop legislating it! Spend government dollars on crap!

No. Actually many athletes in the early stages of sports asked for more testing and restrictions. They didn't want to destroy there bodies just to keep up with those who didn't care. I think if people really want to use steroids in sports, maybe they should look into making a league for steroid users. That could be interesting.

If the vendors and gamers can not remedy the themes, Congress or any area of the USG unquestionably can not nicely suited the mess ups. Baseball does have a anti-have faith secure practices as a results of Congress. MLB would not exist without the secure practices it may provide. a severe danger to study, droop, or perhaps get rid of the license is sufficient incentive. Congress can, lower back, request MLB and the gamers Union to place a severe drug attempting out software in place--in any different case. The sorry actuality is, as undesirable as Congressional meddling could be, the final events are utter fools, clowns, traitors to the interest's background.

No. It's actually unfair for those who don't use steroids having to compete with people who use artificial methods to improve their skills.
Perhaps, steroids can be very dangerous for the human body and because of that the government has to take actions.

I do not have a problem with the government getting involved in steroid usage.

I think that it is unfair that these people use methods of drugs to enhance their ability in their chosen sport.

The entire method of the game is competition man-against-man, and may the best man win.

Just like at Mark McGuire I think that he cheated to win, and he was stripped of the title. Now had he played the game fair he probably would have not won.

Steroids are like drugs. It makes people do crazy things, and increases their game.
