He just returned from Vacation today and I asked him how his Christmas was and we talked for 20 minutes about what he did and what gifts he got. He never asked me anything about what I did for Christmas or what gifts I got. Is he self-centered?

HE is the key word. Guys tend forget that when asked a question it is polite to return it. Just start telling him about your Christmas, or whatever it be, and see if he continues on about himself. If so let him know that it makes him appear very self centered. He may not realize it.

Maybe he was being sensitive. He was playing it safe, figuring if that if you had something to contribute about your holiday; that you'd speak up. Unless you went on some great vacation that outdid his, you should have gone first.
You need to cut the guy some slack and stop reading-in negative motives for everything people do wrong, by your perception. How about extending people some love and grace, giving them the benefit of the doubt.
Does he do this sort of thing regularly?

You asked him and he told you. To really find out if he is self-centered would have been to say what you did after he was done and then if you feel you are getting "I"m bored as hell" feeling from him, THEN I would say he is self-centered. It is in the MUTUAL sharing that is true friendship. But you cannot judge that particular conversation if you did not put forth your own experiences after his. It would be in his interest in what you had to say.

He could be but he also could have been a little over excited about the stuff he had gotten and just forgot to ask you about what you got or how your Christmas went.

could be. But maybe he was just so excited about his great Christmas and still reeling from the vacation. Let him settle back to normal day to day life and I bet he'll come around

I say that maybe he is. But maybe he isn't and he was just so excited by his Christmas that he didn't realize that he talked about himself the whole time

Sure, he's self-centered.

But I read your question and i get the mental image of a little kid jumping up and down yelling "but why aren't we talking about MEEEEE?????"

It goes both ways, see...

It depends on if he's willing to talk about what you want to talk about for a while
maybe he just did that because you asked him about what he did
