Forward Motion for Writers

If it's a novel, they are starting a 2 year novel writing course in January. For free.
You also might try joining other smaller online forums. That is helping me alot to keep up with my writing.

well, I don't really get what you mean by "put the story together", but here are some websites I use and why I use them:
www.writersdigest.com - They have writing prompts, contests, forums, and you can subscribe to their magazine. There is also a store where you can buy books that'll help you with that kind of thing.
www.seventhsanctum.com- This has nothing to do with writing. It's a website of random generators, which can create ideas for writing or ideas for naming people/places/things.
I wish you luck! Take it from another aspiring author!

There might be, but if you are serious about writing, you may want to check into some writing classes. They are the best way to a) figure out if you really want to be a writer, b) get a taste of how much work it's going to take for you to compete sucessfully in the writing markets, and c) learn tips and techniques for structuring your pieces while getting feedback from a qualified instructor.
I highly recommend the writing classes at www.ed2go.com. They are inexpensive and, provided you work to get as much out of them as you can, you will learn a lot. Only you will know which class to start with, but I wish you luck on your journey to becoming a novelist!

www.writingclasses.com
That's the site for Gotham Writers' Workshop. Pay $395 for a 10-week program with hands-on help from published writers.
Here's how it works: after you log-in, you can read a lecture from the ProWriter (not what they're called), write an excersize given by the Pro, read work from others in your "class", and give in your own work for others' reading. Since these are real people, and writers, you'll get very helpful ways to improve on your writing skills. Worked for me.

Put it together yourself and ask a college professer to help you. Make an outline on the parts and places where everything happens (timeline) and go by that just do not include the those it is only there to help you.
