A few months back I had these terrible feeling of dread that something bad was going to happen to my younger sister. I could not shake it, it was so bad, I couldn't do anything. The feeling came and went for about 2 months. I went on antidepressents and I have been feeling good until two days ago, I started having that bad feeling of dread again. I've had feelings like this before, a few years ago I had a bad case of it but it was a bad feeling that something was going to happen to me. My brother died and I almost died at the same time. I am really scared that something is going to happen to my sister, I love her so much. She is the most important person to me in the world.

I'm afraid that these aren't just weird feelings, I'm afraid that they are premonitions and I am really scared. Did anyone ever have these feelings before? I hope that it is some kind of anxiety and not a premonition.

I didn't have a premonition before my brother died, I was only 13.

My brother died in 1994 and I had the period of bad feelings about myself in 1999. Whenever I hear about a young person dying I seem to get weird feelings, not every time but sometimes it really affects me.

I think everyone, every now & then, has had "feelings" like this. Personally, I don't believe in premonitions. I do, however believe in "gut feelings". Again, speaking for myself, I find that the older I get the more "gut feelings" I have. Like meeting someone & just having a bad feeling about this person.

However, I believe what you're going through is what I would consider distorted thinking. Try to remember, these are just feelings; nothing bad has happened & the only thing you're doing is causing undue stress upon yourself. Try to look at it this way, you feel that something bad will happen to your sister. Has anything bad happened in the 2 months you've been worrying about it?
Try not to do this to yourself. You're only doing more harm then good. It's a waste of your time & your energy by doing this to yourself. Unless you have some sort of crystal ball or something. You feel that something bad will happen, right? Well logically, there's a 50%/50% chance that something good will happen to your sister, also.
Hope this helps & the best of luck to you.

I feel this is a good time for you to seek therapy. Just so you had some one professional to speak openly with. A friends opinion is OK, but you need to truly trust someone who is educated. I honestly feel this is stress/anxiety. Sometimes when a person is real stress, it's easier for the body/mind to think of something else, than what really is the problem. Which than causes fear. It's sort of a wicked triangle. If you were a person to have premonitions, I think you would have more than two in your life. Are you on a antidepressant for for depression itself, or relief of anxiety? Big difference!! You need to see the right kind of person-for the right kind of care. Call your local Mental Health Center. It's not like you have to tell everyone. Good luck.

Two distinct views for you here
One--if these are "premonitions" they come as a "gift" and not without purpose--and in that-- you have a responsibility to learn what that purpose is and apply appropriate actions

The other--this could be a psychological interlude brought on by the loss of your brother and your own near fatal experience--- setting in motion a very overt and out of moderated concern for your other sibling !!

Only time will be able to tell what will transpire here--- but I might add that in cases of individuals that have the "gift" of premonitions-- their "feelings" do not usually simply center around a single thing--- they are usually active on a very wide and unpredictable pattern that runs the gambit of from / to----and would cover a lot more subject matter than just one thing !!!

You ARE having anxiety driven fears...Nothing can prevent the inevitable....we all die.it's just that some deaths are more nasty than others. you are normal....

Sorry about your brother, I have had 3 untimely and horrible deaths in my family just recently..I had therapy...but here's the truth, nothing will change the hurt, fear or pain of it all...

You could quite possibly be suffering from post traumatic stress disorder, (PTSD ) , that "little gift" comes with all traumatic experiences.it wounds our souls and pierces our hearts.every time something reminds us of the circumstances of our trauma..I know you have the physical symptoms of PTSD cause you are/ were on meds..Ask that doc for a reference to a counselor that specializes in PTSD.........

Sorry for your loss........

I hope you're religious so you can pray to whomever God you worship. Having faith that everything will be alright is all you can do right now, because you can't prevent something when you don't know what to look for.
