Ezekiel 25:17

The passage from the bible that Jules has memorized was mostly made up by Quentin Tarantino and Samuel L. Jackson. The only part that's similar to what the bible says is the part where he says, "And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger. And you will know my name is the lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee." However, the part about the righteous man and the shepherd are not real.

[Ezekiel 25:17 among others]

Ezekiel ch. 25 v. 17. The path of a righteous man is beset with iniquities and the tyranny of evil men. Sorry I've forgotten most of it but it ends AND YE SHALL KNOW THAT MY NAME IS THE LORD WHEN I LAY MY VENGEANCE UPON THEE! BLAM BLAM BLAM! When I looked up this verse in our King James Bible, it was a bit different but still recognisable. Don't worry; I'm an atheist even though we've got a bible.

As explained by Jules in the final scene in the diner, he recites a passage from the Bible — Ezekiel 25:17 — each time he kills someone. The passage reads as follows:

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who in the name of charity and good will shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.
