I ordered some things online and UPS has delivered two things but did not knock and left the things on my front porch. If my digital camera gets stolen {180 dollars] can i sue them for not knocking and just leaving it where anyone could take it?? thanks

It depends if the shipper requested the "Adult Signature Required" service. If this service was requested, and the UPS driver failed to get a signature, then yes, UPS would be liable. However, if it was a standard Ground delivery service, then no, they are not required to get an adult signature or make sure it is delivered to the recipient in person.

If a signature was not requested, then it is UPS's policy to allow drivers to release packages. Once the packages are "released," UPS is pretty much relieved of any liability.

What is Driver Release?

Driver Release is a UPS residential delivery policy that allows a UPS driver to leave a package at a private residence without getting a signature. At the discretion of the driver, a package can be left out of sight and out of weather.

First, was the property insured? If so, what are the guidelines for the insurance? (i.e. did it only cover damaged property). Further, you need to contact the corporate offices of UPS and file a complaint. In this complaint you will advise them that the UPS delivery person did not knock as required. Keep in mind that in the end, it will be your word against the person that delivered the package, so start rounding up witnesses that might have seen him/her drop the package and leave without a knock.

Take Care

That'll teach you not to be home when packages are being delivered.
