OMG! It is really all year long but obviously during the holiday season and a bit of time after we are flooded with these freaking ad's telling us its "the lowest price of the season" or "last sale of the season only one day to save" and its EVERY OTHER DAY!!!!!!!!!! Maybe its not Macy's in your neck of the woods but at any rate, dont these commercials need to tone it down a bit?

Don't get me started ! I'll tell you what irritates me about Macy's. There has been a department store here in Portland Oregon - Meier & Frank - since I was a little girl. I remember my mother taking me there when I was just a girl, taking me to lunch, to the Georgian Tea Room, to see the window dressings at Christmas, every window a magical land, to see The Cinnamon Bear, and going to see the giant victory parade on VJ Day right outside Meier & Frank's. That was in the 40's. And there was Meier & Frank. Fourteen stories and no 13th floor. In the heart of downtown Portland. At the turn of the century it was still there. Right across from what we now call "Portland's Living Room", our Pioneer Courthouse Square. Still there. Being a landmark for all true Portlanders. Until ---- along came Macy's. Now it's all changing, and the signs are coming down, and the Georgian Tea Room served its last patron, and there is no more Meier & Frank. Just Macy's One Day Only ads! And, they have the audacity to use a heart in their logo. Fageddaboudid!!!!!

I understand you anger about the ads. However, I use to work in retail, and over the holiday season they tend to try to ask for the going rate on the items, and they do not sell. So these stores attempt to promote last minute deals. These are the same items that they could have tried to discount during the season. However, they know that 75% of buyers will buy at these prices.

This is not the last ad that you will that will tell you last minute deals. In January, these same stores are going to try to clear out their inventory to move in their spring items, and they will claim that this is a winter clearance.

You will be surprised even though you are tired of these advertisements people will run to these stores and buy up this inventory. So I guess in the end, the huge advertisements pays off for the stores.

I do agree that they need to stop over promoting. However, they will not do this!

Yes, they really do we already know that they have sales going on during the holidays they don't have to advertise every time you turn on the tv. I think they should only play them on Sundays or something like that. I seem to know all the words to those commercials.

It seems that they have them playing every commercial they can get them on. I understand your annoyance. The day I can find a shirt at Macy's that will be on sale for $10 or less is the day that I will take their commercials seriously.

Any business who runs ads for 'on sale now' has got to be on something - do they not sale items at any other times - do they keep their doors closed and only open for 'sales'.....
What gives......................
Here, in Oregon, I see ads for Macy's and JC Penney all of the time and I agree with you. 'Big Sale This Weekend Only' - guess what..they run these ads every Wednesday!
I also hate all of the stupid ads in the newspaper. I would, for once, like to read the local newspaper WITHOUT all of the ads.

If you think that's annoying, try working at the mall during the holiday season. People ask me "why isn't THIS on sale!?" like I forgot my magic wand at home or something.
