I think that Zito was a great pitcher when his fastball was well faster. When his curve is working he is good. When it hangs it is open season. I like Zito but he isn't worth 126 million.

I wouldn't say they are necessarily dumb for picking up Zito. He's a pretty solid player and within the 7 years, I think that he will be worth MOST of the 126 million contract. He just needs to be put in a position to succeed, and in the Giants enormous field, I think he will be just fine.

With the rising prices of pitching in MLB, this type of contract might not be that uncommon in the years to come.

If you say it will be $1 million per win...that means he will have 18 wins a year for 7 years in a row. That is definetly worth the money!

I think it was a great move for a high rate player like Zito. He is the next best and we are glad to have him. I don't know why there are so much hate on the giants. If it was the yankees or the mets, everyone would say they made a great deal. Let's not forget Dice-K. That was a dumb deal. They paid 50 mil just to talk to him. how dumb? Let's not bag on the giants just because we got the player every team wanted.

Way too much money for Zito. If Zito wanted to win a world championship I think he came to the wrong team. The Giants really don't have much of a shot at winning. The Dodgers and Padres are better teams.

Frankly speaking, no one is worth that kind of money. Baseball is out of control and the fans are the ones picking up the tab.

A waste of money. Zito is good but not great. It's all about the money and not about winning championships. If he wanted to win why in the world would he go to the Giants of all teams? It doesn't add up except with his bank account.

Yes, the Giants are dumb for making that deal. Zito is inconsistent. The Giants, like the Red Sox are desperate for pitching.

It's dumb that they gave him 7 years AND 126 million. I guess Scott Boras truly is a genius. I wouldn't have given him more than a 4-year deal but that's just me. Do the Giants want to be the Yankees of the West, overpaying players left and right?

Resigning Bonds was the biggest mistake of the Giants off-season, though.

If Zito sells more season tickets, brings more people to the ballpark, gets the Giants on National TV more, then of course its worth it.

Plus they ticket prices were already raised, so who cares what they spend on the players. If the team wins, they get more revenue because people come out to see the games.

Have to stop thinking like a fan of a team and like a business person.

I think it was pretty dumb. The NL West had perhaps some of the best averages against left-handers. Granted those southpaws weren't Zito. Also the Giants have to play in Colorado at least 9 times and thin air+ hanging curveball @ times will be horrendous.
