Everyone agrees that Saddam was responsible for many atrocities. It's all about capital punishment and the perception of justice.

Some Americans believe that capital punishment can be justified in certain circumstances. The rest believe that capital punishment is morally repugnant. It is a very polarizing issue. Many Americans truly respect their
opposition. Many more do not. Accusations and name-calling abound on both sides and it's very ugly.

Although the pro-capital punishment proponents might seem "bloodthirsty", and SOME might be, that is far too emotional a word to be useful. Capital punishment proponents simply take the more aggressive position in the first place and they are celebrating that their "side" appears to have "won".

We who are opposed to capital punishment are called equally distasteful and incorrect epithets, and you have no doubt heard them all. We are more upset, because what we consider a terrible wrong is about to happen

You read one journalists article. It's just another example of the freakin' media saying what ever they want, just to have "their" article read...
I don't think all Americans are bloodthirsty.........
However, the so called "bloodthirsty Americans" are most likely the ones who had family or friends that died under Saddam's hand.
I wouldn't call it bloodthirsty, That's a bit harsh. I would say they are looking for Justice!
Don't believe everything you read.

It shouldn't be ever notice when you pass a traffic accident how much of a jam is caused by people rubber necking for a good look? Since the early days of the Gladiator arenas, people have been drawn to watch violence. Look at Wrestling on tv,violence reigns supreme in sports. So no it should not surprise you in the least

l don't agree that Americans are bloodthirsty. I think most of us saw the war in Iraq, in large, as a humanitarian effort to free the people of Iraq from this bloody dictator who tortured, maimed, and killed their fathers, mothers ,sisters, brothers, and even their children. We all went through hell to get to this point, and I think we are simply ready for justice to be done, and I think the people of Iraq need the closure that only his death will bring. I also feel that our soldiers will feel a sense of accomplishment, that they have truly done something to help the Iraqi people.

Compassion. This "eye-for-an-eye" stuff is offensive and shameful. I'm ashamed of my country for illegally invading a sovereign nation and deposing Saddam Hussein. It was wrong.

I myself do not support the death penalty under any circumstances. I don't care if it's Hitler, Pol Pot, Hussein, or George Bush. The DP is morally abhorrent and has no place in a civilized world.

not all people deserve to live out their days when they have deprived others of their lives.....
Saddam is one of those mis-wired sociopaths that dispose of people or things when they are an irritant or obstruction..
these mentally and psychologically unfit individuals kill or abuse others ---a killer tiger/bear/elephant/is killed to prevent the deaths of the innocent villagers or anyone else unfortunate enough to get in their way...
Its simple logic...not a religious concept.. humans ARE able to choose to remove a threat for the good of all...
why bother with a cage, food, clothes blankets ?- such concern is a foreign concept to the captive...

Because you are probably a basically decent person.

Some of us want Saddam executed for his murders, but quickly, quietly and without cameras.
