I have to say Ovechkin he is doing a TON with a TON LESS than Crosby. I have a feeling this will be the modern era, Gretzky/Lemieux. Where one player Crosby/Gretzky has a TON of talent around them (and Malkin might be the next Messier) and stacks up the numbers and the other player Lemieux/Ovechkin plays for one of the worst teams for a very long time and puts up great numbers just not as great as the person to which he is most compared.

I think Ovechkin has more raw talent but sadly his back and shoulders will collapse if he doesn't get a little bit of help lifting the team.

Just like if you put Lemieux with the early 80s Oilers and Gretzky on the Penquins of the early 80s the numbers flip I feel the same scenario happens with Ovechkin and Crosby.

I think Crosby is going to prove to be the best, all-around player. Ovechkin scores more goals and hits more, but Crosby still does those things, and passes like he's Adam Oates or something. He also seems to have taken on more of a leadership role than Ovechkin. If I had to choose between the two, I'd take Crosby.

I love Ovechkin, though. He's my favorite player in the NHL right now. He has a rough edge about him and a great enthusiasm. I just worry that he plays a little TOO much on the edge. Players like that usually end up having short careers. Sydney Crosby is really smart and is better at picking his moments. When he retires at the ripe old age of 40, I wouldn't be surprised if Ovechkin has been out of the league for 8 years with gimpy knees, like Mike Bossy or Pavel Bure.

But you never know!

Crosby is the better of the two but any team in the league right now would love either one. Crosby and Ovechkin have pretty close to the same numbers as in points but one thing to note Crosby is only 19. Imagine him in two years and compare him to Ovechkin of now. I believe Crosby will look much better. Also Ovechkin played for the Russian super league before the NHL. Compared to what Crosby was playing in the super league is more competitive. It is incredible to watch a 19 year old kid take on the NHL and put up the numbers and the moves that he does. In a year we will be adding Malkin to the conversation, just let him get adjusted and all that legal crap away from him.

I'll have to say Ovechkin is the better player of the two. I can only hope that Crosby's personality and sportsmanship are better that Ovechkin's, though.

It depends what you mean by better I see Ovechkin as being a power forward similar to Jaromir Jagr or Brendan Shanahan in that he can not only score and pass with beauty, but also can play the body extremely well and deliver punishing body checks, while Crosby as being more of a smooth Wayne Gretzky or Steve Yzerman type player so it's your call who is "better"

Give it a bit more time. Ovechkin had a slow start in the beginning of the season and look at him now. In the second half of the season it should be clear who the better player is.

Best at what though? Ovechkin is obviously faster, hits harder and has more goal scoring talent. Plus he's truly electric to watch! Crosby is a better passer and will probably win more scoring titles so depends what you want.

Have to go with Ovechkin. Both have incredible skills but Ovechkin is a better all around player in my humble opinion.

I think Crosby is a better finess player like Gretzky while Ovechkin is a better power forward like Jagr.

Crosby is the best guaranteed. Ovechkin is more like a Forsberg but a more gifted goal scorer. Crosby can score and pass the puck. we will be hearing about this two players for years to come but Crosby is the man.
