Yes, there is a difference. First of all, Egyptian cotton is just cotton that is from Egypt. You can get combed Egyptian cotton sheets. Combed cotton is any cotton that has been combed with a mechanical comb. This gives a flannel sheet like feeling to the cotton without making the sheets hot like flannel sheets.

As for softness of sheets, it all depends on the thread count. Thread count in sheets is measured in square inches. The higher the thread count, the more luxurious the sheets will be. Keep in mind thought that once you go above 400 thread count, the sheets will also be stiffer.

Combed percale cotton sheets with a thread count of 400 are one of the most comfortable sheets to sleep in...

egyptian is softer, and there really isnt a difference in appearance, but depending on where yu buy it from, color availability differs. try thecompanystore.com.


Egyptian cotton is also more expensive, but better quality.

when it comes to bed sheets ,the higher the thread count,the softer the sheets will be.i like my sheets to be at least a 400 thread count.any lower and the feel stiff and hard.
i have seen of egyptian cotten sheets with a thread count of 2000.they were priced at over $900 for a set.
