I read the book a few years ago. It was after a real story about a captain and his crew's survival for months I think. Their ship got stuck in the ice. I think around the beginning of the century.

"Scott of the Antarctic" sounds correct however it was at the South pole, not North. The movie was pretty good. Nice music too.
