Engines need to have a fuel and air mixture getting to the carb and also need to have "spark".
1. remove the air cleaner cover and work the throttle while you look into the carb. You should see a very small stream of fuel. If you see fuel then try and start it.
If it still won't start check for spark.
To check for spark: pull the coil wire end off at the coil and hold it very near a metal part that you know will be a good electrical ground using an insulated tool such as pliers that have rubber coated handles. Have someone turn the engine over and see if you have an electrical spark from the wire to the metal.
How dirty is the air filter and when was a tune up done?
If you want to just through a little cash and effort at it, I would buy a distributor cap and a new rotor as well as a fuel filter as these items are cheap and just might do the trick.
Water in the fuel could also be the problem.

eliminate the problem by steps. starting w/ easiest.
1. take the battery out(2-bolts for battery cables,1 or 2 for
battery holdown) and have it tested for free at a parts store.
2. if batt is good, try alternator(little more detailed-at least its rear
wheel drive)and have it tested as above.(do them both @ same
time if you can)
3.if both are good and back in properly, turn key to on pos. do not
crank. listen for a humming noise(fuel pump). it will last about
3 sec. if you don't hear it possibly the pump.
if you don't find the problem take it to a mechanic, or you'll start
chasing the problem and it can cost $$.
good luck.
p.s. im pretty sure it's fuel injected(no carb)no matter if a v6 or v8

Well is it getting gas, does it turn over when you turn the key,
If it cranks and will not start pour a little gas down the car and crank the car.
