2 weeks ago me and my girlfriend were sitting at a stop light when a truck to my right got my attention, it was a guy that didnt like me and i had been having conflict with. He was cussing at me so i shot him the finger. He got really mad and swerved towards my car as if he was going to hit it. He then reversed and rammed into my car and damaged the entire passenger side of it. I called the police who arrived and the guy instantly approached the officer yelling that it was self defense cuz i supposibly pulled a gun out on him. I gave the officer permission to check my car in which they did and found nothing. The report was taken and the guy was free to leave. I tried to deal with his insurance but they said they wont cover my car because the guy admitted to deliberately hitting my car. I am pressing charges but the detective says he doubts it'll get past the District attorney because it is simply my word against his. Does anyone have any advise or know what i can do about this?

You have to learn to control your "road rage" This is exactly the types of things that happen as a result. Get the car fixed and move on.

Actually, I say press forward. Get an attorney to handle his insurance company. Further, get a restraining order or Order of Protection against him. Considering this guy admitted to his insurance company he hit you on purpose that is proof right there. That is assault with a deadly weapon in most states. Be sure to get in writing the reason for the insurance denial of your claim. If they put that in writing you have a whole bunch of room to press charges, coupled with evidence. The state can even subpoena the tape recordings he made with the insurance company. Honestly, don't give up based upon a few cops that don't want to do their jobs.

i would sue him. The police report should show that he admitted to hitting your car on purpose. What a crazy person. I would have done the same thing you did. Take him to People's Court or Judge Judy and get a free trip out of the deal! Good luck!

Two ideas. #1 Turn it into your insurance and let them pay your damages and then they can either get paid from his insurance or sue him. Or #2 If the damage amount is small enough sue him in small claims court. I know the court system seems daunting but you just have to negotiate it and ask alot of questions. Good Luck!

His insurance company is not doing their job. Report this company to your state's insurance commissioner. If you don't, then they will just laugh at you because they won't have to pay for the damage that he did to your car. The cops don't care; I wouldn't even mess with them anymore. Go to the Insurance Commissioner, or whatever they call it in your state. Every state has one.

3 am, wake him up with a 12 gauge pump aimed at his forehead. He pays right then and there, or he gets splattered. Or at least that's what I'd do..
