If you have had the surgery, can you give me tips, examples to help in the recovery period. I have four children and I would like anything to make the recovery more bearable. Thanks.

Congrats!!! I had reduction surgery in Feb '06 and LOVED it! I went from a 38J to a 38C.

Do you have someone to care for you and your kids? (Hubby?) You shouldn't be picking up your kids for a few weeks. NO heavy lifting, NO cleaning the house, NO laundry doing. Get your hubby or kids if they are old enough to do it.

You will not regret it. Make sure you follow your doctors orders. ANY questions at ANY time you call your doctor up and ask.

I don't know what all you read about it but it will take a bit to heal. After surgery you will be dealing with some ugly bruising (go to amazon and buy 'arnica montana', they are little pills that you take according to the box and it will help with bruising a lot). You will be swollen for quite some time. Do not worry if you still think you are big because it takes up to a YEAR to get to your final healed size! If you still feel you are big talk to your doctor about it.

You should be off work for two weeks. More if you are in a very active occupation.

I have loads of information for you. What helped me the most was this site:

This is a great milestone for you! If you have any questions or anything let me know! I'll be glad to chat about it!

My mother in law recently had a masectomy. Get plenty of rest and do not over do it with stretching the area or lifting. She did and got an infection at the site. Make sure you tell your kids that you will need them to help you out while you heal.

Follow your doctors or his assistants recommendations. EVEN IF YOU INITIALLY 'feel fine'...if they recommend ice...say..".20 on...20 off"...don't assume that 40 on will work as well. Do not mix prescribed drugs with ANY other drugs. Be certain that your doctor and his assistants are aware of any and all drugs you may be taking. If you might have been considering taking whatever the doctor prescribes...in addition to what YOU might think...won't matter. THINK AGAIN!

If you have any questions or problems or concerns...which you obviously do...LET YOUR Dr. & his staff know. IT IS THEIR JOB AND RESPONSIBILITY TO INFORM YOU OF YOUR risks and RESPONSIBILITIES...prior to and following this procedure.
DO NOT HESITATE TO ASK. BE INFORMED!

Breast reduction surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her breast reduction, tummy tuck and facelift surgery in India by the company called Forerunners Healthcare .The Price for the surgery she paid in India was very less. She paid 30% of the cost she was quoted in America.

Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. They arrange cosmetic and plastic surgery for foreigners in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low price, as the breast reduction, tummy tuck, facelift and other cosmetic surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Hope this helps.
