I've been under humungous stress for about six months. I skipped a period and the next one was so heavy I ended up in the emergency room. The doctor said that will happen if under alot of stress. Basically a double period. I need to know if this will affect birth control pills as well. Anyone with some information would be greatly appreciated.

Not totally. Birth control pills trick your body into thinking it's pregnant. When you are under extreme stress, your body puts all its energy into dealing with that stress rather than regulating hormones, so sometimes it interferes with your cycle and you don't have a period. So, if you are under extreme stress, the birth control pills will still deliver the appropriate amount of hormones to your body to keep you from getting pregnant, but when you are on the placebo week your body (because of the stress) may not regulate the hormones that start your period. I would definitely ask your doctor about this, just to make sure- some pills are different from others. Best of luck.

You are less likely to get pregnant when extremely stressed, with or without the pill. It is odd that you skipped a period if you were taking the pills right, though.
