NO it is NOT about sex. When Adam (singer/songwriter of 3DG) wrote this album he was going through some rough times, you know, depression and stuff like that, and the music on this album reflects that. Pain is about feeling numb. Going through so much S*** that your mind can't take it anymore and you just, kind of, go numb. It is about feeling numb and being scared of that and wishing to feel anything, even pain, rather than feel numb. Pain is a way to know you are alive, and if you feel pain, at least you know you aren't numb, you are alive. So it's about wanting to feel pain just to know you're not numb, just to know that you CAN feel.

Its better to feel pain than nothing at all...at least you feel alive. it could be about sex or maby life in general when the lights go out you are dead
