I see this in messages and someone left a comment on my page and I don't know what it means when you use the number sign and all.

its a way of showing that the person likes you. . . . . . . .honestly though it a for of abusing without showing what he's sayin

It is a convention used in comics when the character wants to curse. Since a G rated comic strip can't print anything approaching our curse words the comic strip writers used a string of characters that weren't numbers or letters. In comics stars and whirls are also common, but it is harder to type those in on the computer.

I'm not sure about the specific comment that was left for you, but usually a string of random characters like "#$^#^*&#$^$#$" is used to censor an "inappropriate" (swear) word.

May be a code - in cartoons, it's used to indicate profanity.

It is used instead of "bad" words

like A#S H*%E

or

B$T@H

Kind of a fill in the blanks thing.
