Saku Koivu was high sticked and that was the turning point of the series. Habs should have been in the finals.

It's not about deserving, people who say no have some anger and resentment issues. The Hurricanes aren't even in my favorite top 10 teams, but they were the best team in the end. The playoffs are a whole new season and whoever is playing the hardest and has the momentum usually goes the furthest. Congrats to the Canes.

last year they got some great veterans to help win the cup, yes they were down 2-0 to the Habs and it really hurt the Habs when Koivu went out with the high stick of Williams and that turned the series around. then Cam Ward was brilliant and then they met the Oilers in the finals and if Roloson didn't go out the Oilers would of definitely win the Stanley Cup. but this year they lost to much from the veterans and regulars and they won't be top contenders for the Cup this year. they lost Matt Cullen, Aaron Ward both to (NYR) and Mark Reechi to (PIT) and Doug Weight to (STL) these are key players that helped the Canes win the Stanley Cup.

plus not only they didn't deserve to win the cup last year, you were able to go by playoff tickets on game day, know you tell me if that's a hockey place. I say NO WAY.

GO HABS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

They won it so they deserve it... But being a huge Oilers fan I am still feeling the pain. If Roloson had stayed healthy I think Edmonton would have won. But that's not how it worked out. This year Carolina will not get past the first round. Buffalo will be really hard to beat in the East.

They won the Cup and obviously deserved it. I am not a Hurricane fan but the Stanley Cup Finals is the best hockey of the year. So yes, they deserved it.... last year.

They wont get it this year!

Yes. I know they deserved it because they won it.

You can't have it both ways, you can't say it's the hardest trophy to win in sports and then say the winner didn't deserve it.

The Sabs had bad luck, the Canes had some good luck. They have a lot of talent and they have Rod and he's a machine.

There's no use is saying if the Sabs had their D, or if Edmonton had done this or that.

They won---LAST YEAR. Let's focus on this year--much more productive and interesting as this year is up for grabs and last year is DONE!

If you get into the playoffs and win 16 games, you deserve to walk away with the cup.

This isn't rocket science.

Doesn't matter whether you like them or not, or whether they play in the frozen tundra of Canada or freakin' Jamaica. You win 16 playoff games against the best in the world, you deserve to win the Cup.

They had an incredible run of luck, but heck that's part of the game too. The fact that the Sabres lost 4 defensemen and the Oilers lost their starting goalie was to their advantage...but then the fact that they didn't have injuries is a testament to their strength.

All in all...no they weren't the best club...but they were the strongest and had the best of fortune. In that respect they were the best team.

Go Sabs!

Oilers didn't deserve the cup, so of course the Hurricanes did.
