Because it is run by money, the people who are in charge believe they make the most money with the selections they make currently. If they thought Mexican's were the next "hot" thing in the fashion industry we would see them non-stop in every magazine. However, it seems right now, they aren't.

Coming from somebody who is white, I think that it is an issue of racism. Mexican Americans make up a large percentage of the population in this country, but are rarely represented in the media. For example, I can't remember the last mexican I saw on MTV's The Real World. It always amazes me how much emphasis is put on Cubans, Puerto Ricans, and South Americans while Mexicans seem to be skipped over.
So, no, I don't think that it is right.

Considering I don't even care for models, this really isn't my issue. It's not as if Mexicans are outlawed from modelling or outright discriminated against... it's more along the lines of something like... "I PREFER to date African Americans, but that doesn't mean that I'm racist. I'm open-minded, but I do have my own choice and personal preference."

Also, it's possible that modelling isn't that great of a career choice for Mexicans. Maybe a lot of them don't want to... *shrugs* If you ask me, I think you're trying to pull racism out of a situation that doesn't really have much in it. Not everything is "balanced" in life. There's not always going to be an equal amount of whatever in every job, category, etc. That's called an "ideal," and ideals are pretty much impossible. They're merely the PERFECT setting, and as we all know, there's no such thing as true, objective perfection in this world. Ex: Communism is a great ideal... great on paper, but look what happened to it when it was put into action.

maybe a lot of them dont try to get a career in that industry. or maybe the agents dont find the ones that do try pretty enough, or dont have that special "model look". plus, as i have noticed, a lot of mexican girls are short.

I think the models that try the hardest, work the hardest and have the heart should be the ones picked...forget the race.

Well America is freaking racist as are many other white countries and it is their loss b/c there are hot women of all other races. It's stupid to limit what is called beautiful, but it is all about power. It's ironic they have turned valueing beauty into something very ugly.
