You are correct, life is indeed a struggle. The answer to what we are trying to achieve is going to be different for each person who answers. Some dedicate their lives to living for their God and going to heaven. Others dedicate their lives to learning everything they can possibly learn and using that knowledge to help ease some suffering in the world. Still others change the direction of their lives every few years until they find the purpose they are looking for. There isn't a single answer to your question, the answer really is what you want it to be. What it's really all about is living your life the best way you know how so that when you are at the end of it you have few regrets. I wish you well in your search.

What you want in life? Its your choice. You mention enlightenment, peace and heaven, than be a monk you get all that.
If you want wealth, be an honest businessman, don't cheat, rob and kill for money. Life is no struggle.

I think to attain something that is an unfamiliar feeling, such as happiness or to be super successful. I think we just want everything at our fingertips at the fastest rate possible so everyone struggles to get this. People want to believe that their has to be something better than the card they were dealt. However people need to be more appreciative of what they have so maybe the struggles will be far more scarce and not so overrated.

Ultimate goals vary for each individual, but you listed some very common aspirations, such as fame, wealth, and knowledge. However, one must understand that every goal, whatever it might be, is linked to the ultimate aim of happiness. Simply looking at the world around you proves the validity of the assertion. Every action we carry out is to increase our happiness, whatever that might be for an individual.

A relationship with the God who created us. We are made to have that relationship and without it our life is empty and meaningless.

I don't know what your purpose is in life, but I think you need to find out what it is. And quick!
