I LOVE Stephen King books. IT and The Stand are my two favorites of his. Yes, there is murder in them, but it is very supernatural. There is romance in both, but it is a bit twisted (especially in IT).
I recommend reading The Stand first. Be sure to get the unabridged version. It is around 1200 pages, but well worth it.
A good romance is The Princess Bride by William Goldman. It is much more clever and funny than the movie--and I love the movie!

Catherine Coulter's romances are great. Nothing scary in them though-sorry.
My favorite books of hers:
The Wyndham Legacy
The Nightingale Legacy
The Valentine Legacy
You won't be disappointed in them!
Other authors to check out for romance: Bertrice Small, Chirstina Dodd, Gaelen Foley, Virginia Henley, Mary Jo Putney (a personal favorite) and Jo Beverely.

The Time visitors spouse - it truly is truly surprising. looks somewhat complicated on the beginning up - a pair of guy who retains going lower back to his previous truly randomely which sounds somewhat strange sci-fi besides the undeniable fact that it truly ISNT! that's a very good Romance novel approximately youthful love and the place it leads. perhaps a reasonably deep study. in case you're in for the classics, a e book which mixes the two romance and scarey/gothicness is Wuthering Heights by utilising Emily Bronte. you have have been given to study it quicker or later on your existence. it truly is darkish in an extremely subtle way, yet an surprising study.

For a good mix of horror and romance, try:
1) "Wither" by J.G. Passarella
2) "The Silver Kiss" or "Look For Me By Moonlight" by Annette Curtis Klause. Actually, anything by this author.
4) Anything by Laurell K. Hamilton, although I wouldn't call them 'scary' so much as dealing with fantasy/horror figures like vampires and dark faeries.
Happy reading!

You already say you like Stephen King, so my point may be moot, but truly the scariest book I have ever read was "IT"
I remember several time getting out of bed and turning every freaking light on in my room while reading that thing.

My mom & my best friend both love romance books. They really like the historical romances by Julie Garwood. She recently started writing murder/mysteries, but the old stuff (I'm told) is superb.
Here is my friend's website...it has excerpts from Julie's romance books on it. I hope you find something you enjoy. http://users.adelphia.net/~petefamily/julie.html

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Stephen King's latest - "Lisey's Story". It's supposed to be a romance with some scary bits, I think.
