Overall I am a very happy person, I am not rich, probably lower middle class. Yet it seems that I like to spend to much money. I buy me something...use it for a few days, and before I know it I have my mind set on something else. It goes on and on. It hasn't hurt me to bad finacially. Yet it keeps me from putting money aside for savings. If I keep it up it will eventually hurt my finances.
I think it is something I do to make me feel better about not finishing college and getting a job that pays better. What should I do if there is no way to go back to school.

There's always a way to go back to school. That door never closes. You just have to work at it.

As for the money, put some into a savings account that you can't touch from every pay check, like $50 or so. It'll add up.

Oh, and you feel the need to buy more and more stuff because commercials and ads tell you to. That's what they're there for.

Always pay yourself first. Open a savings account, and after you cash your check put 10% of it into that account; even before you pay bills. Then pay bills, and whatever money is left, you could use to buy whatever it is you have your eye on.

Also, you might want to set up a monthly budget for yourself. Most bills are the same every month, so figure out how much of your check is earmarked for bills, groceries, and 10% savings, then set an allowance for "spending money".

Another idea: Get a jar and set it by your bed. At night when you change clothes, put your change in the jar. You'd be surprised how much cash you accumulate in change. Rolls the coin, then cash them into the bank once a month; and use that money for guilty pleasures.

Just because you didn't finish college, or have the best paying job doesn't mean you don't deserve "gifts" from yourself; or that you can't save money.

Do you like your career, or do you want something different? If you want to do something different, then go back to school!! You will need to take out loans and you will need to curb your spending, but if that's what is creating a void in your life, then do it.

ON the other hand, if you like your career and it brings you satisfaction, don't let what anyone says bring you down. You need to find meaning in your life on your own.

the secret of life..........true passion, whether it may be religion and finding god in you everyday or keeping a family together by loving your wife and honoring ur children. whatever it is, it includes commitment, which something you have to work at. find something u know u wont just throw away after a while, and as important and somewhat urgent it is for u, don't worry about your financial situation just yet.

your title has nothing to do with your question, not directly anyway . . .the meaning of life is being happy and experiencing life to the fullest and maybe even sharing it with someone. As for your money worries, stop spending money on stuff you don't need and you'll probably worry less.

You have a God shaped void waiting to be filled that can only be filled by God. You can keep trying to fill it with new cars, gourmet food, wine, mansions, ect but the holes will still be there.
