Hi I'm 19 and I just went to www.freedomtofacism.com and watched a movie after I talked to someone at work today, and was told that we are not required to pay income tax. Can anyone prove that one way or another? What about the Supreme court ruling that say that the IRS is illegal and can not require you to pay tax on personal services.

Yes you are required to file a tax form
Yes you are required to pay taxes on income for services (work)
The IRS is a legal branch of the US Government

The Supreme Court never said the IRS was illegal

Now the question of personal services is tricky, depends on what the service is and how much you got paid.

There are volumes called the Tax Code of the United States, I do not recommend reading them, because I believe sections contradict each other.

www.freedomtofacism.com is a gripe session for minor pieces of law that are obsolete or in need of updateing due to newer conflicting laws. They bend the facts that some laws need updating and word it so it looks like a big brother power thing

To my knowledge the Supreme Court has yet to rule that the IRS is 'illegal...'

However, the We the People Foundation has been fighting this issue and trying to get a ruling from the Supreme Court for at least a couple years now. There are several very relevant questions that the government has refused to answer regarding income taxes.

There is plenty of info out there on this topic. Just be skeptical and don't take someone else's legal opinions as gospel, it's not that easy. Larry Becraft has put together a list of legal arguments that have been made on this topic which have been ruled against.
Though the legal questions raised by WTP have yet to be answered.

Between the crank pots and the IRS, trust me, you want to be on the IRS's side, unless you have a really good argument and there is a LOT of money involved.

You are required to file and pay tax if you make the requisite amount of money.

And I believe the constitution was amended to permit income tax, precisely to get around a ruling like that. I'm not sure if we are talking about the same one.

Well, try not paying your taxes and take it to court. Ask them to cite the specific law broken when you haven't paid your taxes. According to all the anti-tax sites I've read, they're supposed to drop the case against you at that point. Supposedly there isn't an actual law requiring anyone to pay taxes..dunno if you really want to go through all this trouble to test it, though.

This bull has been floating around for decades. Paying taxes is required if you owe them.

You often hear our tax system is voluntary, and in a way it is. We voluntary assess ourselves by computing the amount we owe. However, if you do not file the gov't will compute it and assess you for what it thinks you owe. Trust me, it won't be nearly as favorable as if you had done it yourself.

Paying the taxes is required. Assessing yourself is voluntary.

Try not paying your taxes. Maybe they will let me send you cigarettes. There better than money where you will be for not paying taxes.
own a house don't pay your taxes. It'll be on the auction block before you know it. Anything your house, car, business. Anything but your first born male child. Maybe that too.

You are mistaken if you think you live in the land of the free. America forgot that concept a long time ago!

Total Government control is now an all time high epidemic. When you get divorced, the government now has the authority to tell you how much you will spend on your kids.

It's usually around 40% of your take home pay!!! You will be imprisoned if you refuse to pay any less, just as taxes are enforced.

It's all legal, but doesn't make it right!!!!

It's hilarious that some pseudo-anarchists try to tell you not to pay your taxes because it's doesn't say anywhere that you have to. You have to. Take it to court and lose, no one buys that sh*t. It's as simple as that, you can argue all you want, but it does not work.
